Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson each hit a pair of homers, powering the New York Yankees past the Boston Red Sox 14-2 on a raucous Wednesday night in the Bronx for their 13th AL East title in 17 years. In front of fans poised to party from the first pitch, the Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the last-place Red Sox to win their second consecutive division crown. The championship was locked up by the seventh inning, when Baltimore's 4-1 loss at Tampa bay went final. Cano tied a career high with six RBIs as New York secured home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs. The Yankees will open on the road Sunday against the winner of Friday's wild-card game between Baltimore and Texas.

"IT'S A HOLE NEW BALL GAME!"

Two frisky fans hit an inside-the-park home run in a Yankee Stadium bathroom as the Bronx Bombers beat the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday. In a video posted on the sports blog Deadspin, fans can be seen watching as a man clad only in a hiked-up CC Sabathia T-shirt and a woman had full-on sex in the stall under the left field bleachers. A tipster told the blog that the raunchy romp began in the second inning with the Yanks leading 3-0, and continued until the fourth or fifth giving new meaning to the phrase pitching inside. People were jockeying for position outside the stall to take pics either over or under, and even standing up on the toilet bowl on the neighboring stall,” the tipster said. Several stadium employees were among the slew of onlookers who flocked to the cinderblock bathroom, which bears a sign pledging “the highest possible levels of comfort with regards to quality and cleanliness.” Fans “thought it was amusing that they should probably be using one of those walkie-talkies to call someone to do something about it (but) no one wants to blow the whistle on something as epic as this!!!” the tipster posted. The couple appeared oblivious to the commotion around them, and allegedly continued to run the bases even after several onlookers cried foul. Even after someone knocked on the stall door, the couple kept on copulating. But eventually, the extra innings ended and fans gave the woman a slow round of rhythmic applause as she parted.

The Yankees said Sunday that the team was aware of the situation but had no comment. But the viral video was the talk of the Bronx after the Yanks’ 6—4 win Sunday, with some fans suggesting that baseball is not really the national pastime. “Without a doubt, I would do that if you could get away with it,” said Joe Kocsis, 44, adding that it was wrong for people to videotape the duo. The bathroom tryst struck out with others, who said they would never use a bathroom at the Stadium again. “I would not sit on the seat after that,” said Victoria Wanderman, 33. “It’s definitely unsanitary, whether or not they’re using a condom.” Vaze Morozoff, 49, agreed that the Yankee panky was “absolutely inappropriate.” “This is a family environment, you have to be cool,” said the die-hard Bombers buff. Stadium shenanigans aren’t, of course, limited to the Bronx. A couple was arrested in 2008 for having sex in a woman’s bathroom while the New York Jets battled the Bills in Buffalo. That same year, an Iowa woman was caught going at it in the bathroom at a Hawkeye football game in Minneapolis. In that case, her football-loving husband remained in the stands watching the game.

" NY YANKEE STAR ROBINSON CANO'S FAMILY WAS HEAVILY HARRASSED BY KC ROYALS FANS OVER NOT PICKING THEIR OWN PLAYER IN THE HR DERBY "

New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano took it in stride when fans at Kauffman Stadium booed him throughout the All-Star Game festivities this week. But he said Royals fans "crossed the line" when they subjected his family to similar treatment during the Home Run Derby on Monday.  Cano told reporters Tuesday night that fans yelled at his family members, including his mother, when they left their seats to go to the restroom during the Derby. He declined to be more specific but said he believed the fans went too far. "This is a game," Cano said. "We're All-Stars. And if I get booed, I don't really care. But when they start with your family, that's over the line. "Thank God they didn't do anything more (than yell). You don't want people to take it too far and do something to your family. It's just a game. You want to have fun with it and go home with some good memories.

" Cano was a magnet for attention for two straight nights at Kauffman Stadium. On Monday, fans booed him mercilessly for leaving Kansas City DH Billy Butler off the American League's Home Run Derby team after he had pledged to include a Royal. Cano, the AL's captain and defending Derby champion, failed to hit a single homer in the competition. The fans treated Cano roughly again during the National League's 8-0 victory Tuesday. Cano popped out and singled in two at-bats before leaving the game in the fifth inning.
Commissioner Bud Selig said Tuesday that MLB might consider a rule to include a hometown slugger in future Home Run Derbies to alleviate potential controversies. Last year in Arizona, fans booed NL Home Run Derby captain Prince Fielder of the Brewers for leaving Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton off his team.

Cano picked Fielder, now of the Tigers, Jose Bautista and Mark Trumbo for the AL derby squad at the expense of Butler. They finished 1-2-3 in the competition."It was a tough decision," Cano said. "It's easy to understand how fans want to see the kid from their hometown. But the fans need to understand, we're not doing it because we don't like other players. We just want to pick the people we think are going to put on a good show for the fans."

On June 1, 1992, the phone rang in Dorothy and Charles Jeter’s house in Kalamazoo, Mich.
“My mom answered it,’’ Derek Jeter told The Post. “She said the Yankees were on the phone and they wanted to talk to me.’’Dick Groch, a scout with the Yankees, recalled the conversation as very simple and made plans to meet with the family the next night. While Jeter said he was surprised the team that his favorite player, Dave Winfield, played for had taken him with the sixth overall pick in the draft, he doesn’t recall what happened after he hung up. “I don’t know what I did,’’ Jeter said. “I really don’t know. Wow, that was 20 years ago?’’

 

THE HOMES: When Derek Jeter was drafted, he was living in his parents’ Kalamazoo home (pictured). He paid $2,100 a month for his first NY apartment in the Continental Towers on East 79th Street. He has moved up in the world, now spending his offseasons at his 31,000-square foot, $7.7M waterfront home in Tampa.

 

THE WOMEN: Jeter spent four years with high school sweetheart Marisa Novara, but ever since he has been nearly as prolific in dating starlets as he has been in collecting hits. Everyone knows what has transpired in those 20 years. Jeter remembers signing for $700,000 with another $125,000 for college on June 27. “The day after my birthday,’’ Jeter said. From there Jeter went from a skinny high school shortstop with a questionable swing to the 1996 Rookie of the Year winner, a five-time World Series winner and a spot at the table with Yankees icons Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio.
“Twenty years, that seems like a long time ago,’’ Jeter said. According to some in the Yankees’ organization, they believed Jeter would go to the Astros with the first pick. Instead, Houston took Phil Nevin. Groch, who signed Jeter and now works for the Brewers, made a speech at a pre-draft meeting in Tampa that is part of Yankees lore.Concerned Jeter would accept a scholarship to Michigan and play for his beloved Wolverines, Groch was asked how serious Jeter was about going to Ann Arbor.

Then the scout delivered an impassioned message to his bosses. “He’s not going to Michigan. He’s going to Cooperstown,’’ Groch said to his superiors in an emotional voice. Recalling that this week, Groch said it wasn’t a stretch. “If you get the opportunity to get one of those type players you get excited about it,’’ Groch said. How long is 20 years in the baseball business? “We went to dinner the day after he was drafted and we talked everything but baseball,’’ Groch said of dinner with the Jeter family. “He had representation and that bogged things down because in those days it was faxes back and forth, but it got done.’’

Babe's Ruth's 1920 NY Yankee road uniform jersey sells for a record $ 4.4 Million

 The home-run king of baseball Babe Ruth's jersey was sold in an auction this past weekend. It's a grey jersey with blue lettering which says "NEW YORK" and his name stitched inside the back of the jersey, there are some stains on the front of the shirt which is probably of his own doing. In his 22 year career as a pro baseball player Babe Ruth only made a total of $ 911,000. The selling of the jersey makes history as the higest sold baseball artifact in major league baseball history.
